‘Big, Beautiful...’ Stall & Falter

The Pres. Trump/GOP ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ has run into a Big Beautiful stumble and stall upon reaching the U.S. Senate. First, several key Republican Senators, including Leaders Thom. Tillis and Josh Riley, have voiced reservation with the bill, concerned about how the legislation would negatively affect Rural, Republican MAGA voters who also happen to be Medicaid Recipients.

Then, again concerning Medicaid Cuts, the Senate Parliamentarian, stated that the Cuts do not meet the criteria of a Reconciliation (Budget, Funding), Bill. She stripped significant proposed Medicaid Cuts from the Bill, sending the revised version to the Senate for consideration.

Pres. Trump, meanwhile, in a White House Press event to build support for the Legislation, called any opponents   Grandstanders, saying ‘they’ did not ‘want to make this Country great again’. Saying also that ‘We will get past them’.

Trump continued to insist that Congress get the bill to his Desk by July 4th, (next Thursday, [!]), saying the Bill was needed to ‘Make America Great Again’.

Some Republicans urge support for the President's Agenda, despite whatever ‘Cost’ to the Party might be. Former Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell, in commenting on voter reaction to the Cuts remarked, ‘They’ll get over it’.

Oh, Really. Ya’ Think?

Iowa Republican Sen. Joni Ernst was a bit more philosophic in her view of Voter reaction:

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP)Republican Sen. Joni Ernst was met with shouts and groans when she said, “we all are going to die” as she addressed potential changes to Medicaid eligibility at a town hall in north-central Iowa on Friday.

Whether the proposed legislation will help make America Great or not, Tillis, Hawley, and others understand that the deep, dramatic Medicaid cuts may very well serve to make the Democratic Party Great Again.
