Medicaid, Liars
NY Times By Sarah Kliff and Margot Sanger-Katz May 16, 2025
“The expansion of Medicaid has saved more than 27,000 lives since 2010, according to the most definitive study yet on the program’s health effects.”
These Facts do not dissuade Trump and MAGA Republicans from pushing the broadest, highest-impact Medicaid Cuts ever seen in America.
“Poor adults who gained Medicaid coverage after the Affordable Care Act expanded access were 21 percent less likely to die during a given year than those not enrolled, the research shows. By analyzing federal records on 37 million Americans, two economists found that deaths fell not only among older enrollees but also among those in their 20s and 30s” - the group House Speaker Johnson said, ‘Need to get off the couch’.
NY Times:
‘The House Energy and Commerce Committee, which oversees the program, approved a suite of policies on Wednesday that the Congressional Budget Office estimated would cause millions of people to lose their coverage in the years ahead.’
Why on God’s Green Earth would our government seek to disrupt Benefit Assistance to those in need in order to enable Tax Cuts for the Mega-Rich? What in the world have we come to?
Waste, Fraud and Abuse? No, Not Really.
I can’t say who’s the Bigger/Better Liar -. Trump’s current press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, or Trump’s prior press secretary, Sarah Huckabee.
‘The former White House press secretary made her name defending Trump’s version of reality, while whittling down the actual press briefing’ Dana Liebelson POLITICO 05/17/2024.
And to her credit, Huckabee has transformed that blind obedience, misinformation venture into the Governor’s Chair in Arkansas. I guess they’re just not very concerned with The Truth in Arkansas.
Now comes Leavitt, telling Us, Our Perception of reality is Mistaken -
’I think it’s frankly ridiculous that anyone in this room would even suggest that President Trump is doing anything for his own benefit’,
‘It’s absurd for anyone to insinuate that this President is profiting off the presidency’.
Liar! It’s perfectly reasonable and logical to suggest, or ‘insinuate’, that given all the painfully obvious evidence, Trump is engaged in one of the historically Biggest Profiteering jobs ever imagined. Leavitt's remarks came from the podium in The White House Press Room, making them all the more obscene.

The invitees for President Trump’s private dinner for customers of his cryptocurrency business on Thursday included a Chinese billionaire fighting a lawsuit from U.S. regulators, a lawyer for Justice Clarence Thomas and a former basketball star, according to a guest list obtained by The New York Times and social media posts.
The dinner, at which Mr. Trump gave remarks, was an extraordinary moment in which the president leveraged his position to make money — for his crypto business and for his Virginia golf club, which hosted the event
